Chicken Club Wrap – A Great Way to Enjoy your Favorite Sandwich Without The Bread

chicken club wrap

It’s not known for sure where the club sandwich was invented or where did it get it’s name, but one thing we do know, it’s very popular, and we all can see why. With it’s crispy bacon and tender chicken add juicy tomato slices and creamy mayonnaise and you have the makings of a pretty delicious combination.  But here instead of making it on bread we are going to wrap it in lettuce leafs.

Now there is no rule as to what type of lettuce you should use for wrapping, really you can use which ever you prefer.  Now Iceberg is the favorite but you can also use butter lettuce or romaine lettuce, it’s really up to you.  Also you can try to make them smaller instead of making them too big that they might tear.  A good tip is to use two or three leafs or each wrap in the event one of the leafs breaks then it won’t be such a big deal.

That looks like it would be absolutely delicious. I don’t know anyone that doesn’t love bacon and avocado! The combination of chicken and mayonnaise look so good. I have been eating very few processed carbs in the last year. Every once in awhile, I will see a sandwich and the bread looks so good. At that point, I go to the store and buy everything I need to make almond bread. Would that qualify as paleo? Thank you for the great recipe!

    1. Hi Diane: Thank you so much for your input. Yes Almond Bread does qualify as Paleo, and if you are looking for another healthy alternative that would be to use coconut flour instead of almond flour.

I always like to use Romaine Lettuce because it’s like having a leafy tostada shell and takes away a lot of the mess. I’m definitely going to try it on this recipe. I love the protein count as well!!! If you want protein and are trying to build muscle and look lean…this looks like a winner!!!

Oh this sounds so delicious. And wrapping these in lettuces instead of regular bread wraps is something I really want to try. I tend to lean more on a bread free diet so this is right where I want to be. I like the butter lettuces. I think to make is faster for me I will buy the chicken precooked and make the wraps on the small side. Do you think that would work well for a quick lunch?

    1. Hi Janine: Thanks for dropping by and leaving your comment.  Yes most definitely, just make them smaller, wrap them up and refrigerate. It makes for a great lunch.

Ok, now I am hungry! This recipe sounds delicious. Love the photos at the top too! Thank you for the link on Ghee, I would not have known where to begin. I can’t wait to try this wrap. Does changing the type of lettuce affect the nutritional information significantly? Also, what about flavored, or smoked bacons? Would those be ok to use?

    1. Hi Julie: Thanks for the visit and leaving your comment. The nutritional information doesn’t change drastically depending on type of lettuce. As a matter of fact I would encourage you to try it with different types to find which taste do you prefer. As far as the bacon I prefer smoked but thats just me. You can try either but bare in mind that flavored bacon has more chemicals and preservatives than the smoked kind.
